Manchester United’s midfield picture appears bleak ahead of the second half of the summer transfer window and the start of the new season.

After the departure of Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte’s major injury that was sustained during the World Cup, the side currently have one recognized central midfielder at the club: Kobbie Mainoo.

Mason Mount is willing to drop deeper to help the team, something that could help Michael Carrick in his selection for Saturday’s pre-season fixture against Wrexham in Helsinki.

Andrey Santos also appears close to a move, on the other hand, with the Chelsea midfielder close to completing a move to Manchester after finishing his medical earlier this week.

Club sources have stated that a deal for Ederson is not off the table, meanwhile, but alternative reports have heavily stated that a deal now appears extremely unlikely.

Away from the first-team, other midfielders at the club are looking to make a mark whilst subsequently attempting to carve their own place within the club’s framework.

Now, as revealed on her Instagram, central midfielder Ellie-Mae Rayson has officially signed a new contract with the club’s Foundation, the sixth that she has had during her time with Manchester United.

As a further signal of the progress that she is making, Rayson stated that she is “prepared and ready to have a big season” with the new campaign just weeks away from beginning.

The central midfielder is also a part of the England pathway, helping to demonstrate the talent that she has currently.

Focus, for Ellie-Mae Rayson, will now switch towards ensuring that the final steps of preparation for next season are met, stages that may be necessary for ensuring that she can reach the best possible levels in the upcoming campaign.
