Manchester United’s injury picture is currently bleak, especially in defensive positions, ahead of a crucial five-game run-in schedule to secure Champions League qualification for next season.
Currently, Leny Yoro is out with an injury with this injury potentially set to rule him out of the majority of the remaining five games.
Matthijs de Ligt’s situation is also bleak with the central defender still out with a back injury.
Patrick Dorgu is also missing from action with the hamstring injury that he sustained against Arsenal in January, although there is hope that he could return before the end of this season given he has been pictured on the grass training.
Another Manchester United player has now been ruled out for the rest of the season with this occurring in midfield this time.
Toby Collyer, currently out on loan at Championship club Hull City, has picked up an ankle injury in training with manager Sergej Jakirovic confirming the extent of the injury to Hull Live.
Speaking to the local outlet, Jakirovic stated: “Unfortunately, we have a lot of problems in our team selections because we lost to Toby Collyer in training.
“He now has a protective boot, and for him, the season is over. All this season has been very unlucky for him; this is unbelievable.”
Collyer previously suffered a hamstring injury in February which saw him miss several weeks of the season.
He also suffered issues with his calf during the Christmas period of the season, seeing him miss more time in an essential period of his career for gaining experience.
The midfielder will now return to Manchester United in the coming week for more treatment and will spend the off-season preparing for a new challenge at, potentially, a different club next season.
