Manchester United’s coaching structure is continuing to evolve ahead of the 2026/27 season as Michael Carrick prepares for his first full campaign as permanent manager.
The club have undergone significant changes on and off the pitch over the past year.
Following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal in January, Carrick initially stepped in as interim head coach before guiding United back into the Champions League, ultimately earning the role on a permanent basis.
While much of the focus this summer has centred on new signings such as Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, work behind the scenes has remained equally important as the club continues shaping its long-term football structure.
Fresh developments now suggest further additions are being planned away from the first-team squad.
Manchester United have officially advertised three new coaching vacancies through the club’s LinkedIn recruitment page.
The roles currently being advertised are Academy Coach, Individual Development Coach and Lead Phase Coach, with all three positions based in Manchester.
The vacancies appeared on LinkedIn within the last few days as United continue strengthening their academy coaching department.
Although the positions are focused on the academy rather than Carrick’s senior coaching staff, they highlight the club’s continued investment in player development throughout every age group.
Developing young talent has remained a major priority under the current football leadership, with several academy prospects regularly training alongside the first team during pre-season this summer.
The latest recruitment drive also follows a similar move made by the club in September 2025.
At that time, CentreDevils reported that Manchester United had advertised four football-related roles following widespread staffing changes under the INEOS ownership, with the focus then placed on strengthening the women’s football department.
These new vacancies demonstrate that recruitment away from the transfer market remains an ongoing process as Manchester United United continue building the infrastructure around Carrick’s long-term project.
While supporters naturally focus on new signings and results on the pitch, appointments behind the scenes often play a crucial role in developing the next generation of players capable of progressing through the academy and into the first team.
