Manchester United has been gaining ground on the field under Michael Carrick, but off the field, the club has been dealing with a lot of turmoil.

This week, co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe stirred up controversy by saying the United Kingdom had been “colonised by immigrants.”

The remarks sparked strong backlash from politicians, anti-racism groups, and the media.

For United, a club known for its diverse squad and worldwide name, the timing just couldn’t have been worse.

People started wondering how those comments would impact the players’ morale and the club’s plans for the future.

Senior Manchester United officials are now mortified by Ratcliffe’s comments, as reported by the Daily Mail.

They’re worried not just about how it will affect the players right away but also about the bigger fallout for things like the £2 billion stadium project.

Out of the 26 players in the first-team squad, just seven were born in the UK: Harry Maguire, Mason Mount, Tom Heaton, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Ayden Heaven, and Tyler Fredricson.

The rest mostly come from various countries in Europe, Africa, and South America.

Interim manager Michael Carrick is likely to talk straight with the players, making sure they know that Ratcliffe’s remarks don’t represent what the club or its staff think, as The Daily Mail revealed.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe did apologise after the backlash, saying he regretted how he worded things.

Fan organisations and anti-racism campaigners have also spoken out, with the 1958 Group calling Ratcliffe a “total embarrassment” and saying his language might damage the club’s image around the world.

The situation is still developing, and United’s executives are juggling how it looks to the public with the real issues at hand, while Carrick stays focused on getting the team into the Champions League.
