Manchester United struggle to be rid of Alejandro Garnacho

The bitter memories of last season still linger in the air at Old Trafford. Finishing 15th in the Premier League points table and losing the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur were big setbacks for a club that were once England’s pride. The decision to bring in Ruben Amorim mid-season also did not succeed, as dropping out of European competitions is unacceptable for a giant like Manchester United in the modern era. This performance is a contrast to the club’s glorious past, and that is why the Red Devils now want to accelerate their rebuilding phase.

Falling performances in the last few seasons have forced us to make the changes. The entry of high-profile players like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer transfer window points to a new direction that the club intend to move. Also, by adding youngsters like Diogo Leon, Amorim is laying the foundation for the future. Amidst all this, the club want to remove such players who do not fit in Amorim’s plans. Efforts are being made to bring new energy into the dressing room, but every change has to be paid for.

Discussion about Alejandro Garnacho intensifies

After the report of Fabrizio Romano came out on X, the discussions have intensified. He clearly says that the discussion of transfer talks of Alejandro Garnacho with Besiktas are baseless. According to Romano, the first wish of the Argentine is to remain in the Premier League. This is creating complicated situations for Manchester United in this saga. Due to his differences with Amorim, the winger is completely out of the team’s plans. On the other hand, the club are also looking to sell the 21-year-old and raise funds to buy a clinical striker.

Garnacho’s pace, flair, and ability to score goals have made him the brightest face of United’s commercial machinery. Despite his young age, he has been seen bearing the pressure in big matches. This is why clubs like Chelsea have been keeping an eye on the Argentine for the last few transfer windows. United know that selling Garnacho will not only be a footballing decision but also a financial one. His departure is almost certain as he does not fit into Amorim’s high-pressing system.

We think Garnacho’s decision is justified if he wants to stay in the Premier League. The level and competition of the Premier League is the best for his development at 21 years of age, but this decision also means that Manchester United will have a tough time finding a buyer for him. Chelsea have been after him for a long time, but the Stamford Bridge-based club are currently very close to signing Xavi Simons. If the Dutch star moves to London, Chelsea will probably not look for Garnacho, and then United will have limited options.

Another problem is that Premier League clubs are hesitant to strengthen their direct rival. In such a situation, if the club’s priority is to sell Garnacho and raise funds for a striker, then European clubs would seem to be the right way, but Garnacho intends to stay in the Premier League. This could give a big blow to Manchester United’s transfer plans in the coming weeks.
