Champions League football has raised expectations at Old Trafford, with the club determined to build enough depth to challenge both domestically and in Europe.
While midfield remains one of the biggest priorities this summer, United are also carefully assessing opportunities to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closes.
The club are expected to make further decisions on the future of Marcus Rashford once the World Cup concludes, meaning plans for the wide positions remain very much active.
That has now led United back towards another Brazilian talent they have admired for some time.
Manchester United are already understood to have an agreement in place to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson this summer, but reports now claim the Red Devils have also identified his Brazil teammate Rayan as another player of serious interest.
According to AS, United are among the clubs showing particularly strong interest in the Bournemouth winger after his remarkable rise in English football.
The 19-year-old only arrived on the south coast during the January transfer window after Bournemouth agreed a £35 million deal to bring him in from Vasco da Gama.
Rayan stepped into the side following Antoine Semenyo’s departure and quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s brightest young attacking talents, scoring 5 goals and providing 2 assists across just 15 appearances.
Those performances have reportedly prompted internal discussions at Old Trafford over whether to make a move for the Brazil international.
Before Bournemouth secured his signature earlier this year, the Red Devils had already been monitoring Rayan during his breakthrough spell with Vasco da Gama.
The Brazilian earned widespread attention after producing an outstanding return of 20 goals in 57 appearances across all competitions before completing his move to England, where he signed a five-and-a-half-year contract.
Although Manchester United’s interest is growing, Bournemouth are believed to have no intention of allowing the youngster to leave during the 2026/27 campaign.
The Cherries remain confident he will stay at the Vitality Stadium for at least another season.
However, Rayan’s contract reportedly contains a £87 million release clause that becomes active during the summer of 2027, making a future transfer appear increasingly likely even if Bournemouth resist approaches this year.
United’s interest also reflects Carrick’s desire to increase competition across the attacking positions.
Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo, Matheus Cunha and Patrick Dorgu all offer options in the wide areas, but Champions League football means greater squad depth will be required across a demanding season.
The Red Devils have also continued monitoring Crysencio Summerville as another possible addition on the wing, highlighting just how determined the club are to strengthen that department.
