One area of the pitch that needs reinforcement sooner rather than later for Manchester United is the striker position.
Benjamin Sesko has hardly featured at all in the 2026/27 season due to injury issues, often forcing right-winger Bryan Mbeumo inside.
Alternative Joshua Zirkzee failed to complete a deadline-day move away, leaving United scuppered for options.
The club don’t often spend big in January, but could be forced to after a start to the season that has left them inside the relegation zone on Saturday night.
According to a new report, United could have a target in mind for the striker position.
Former Barcelona striker Vitor Roque, a player United reportedly targeted in 2025 before moving on to Benjamin Sesko as their man, is in their sights once again.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham are all showing an interest in Roque as he impresses at Palmeiras, according to South American outlet Bolavip via Sport Witness.
The 21-year-old returned to Brazil in February 2025 in a €25.5m deal after failing to make the grade at Barcelona despite being highly-rated.
Since then, Roque has netted 29 goals and eight assists in 96 games, earning him growing attention from Europe once again.
Palmeiras have set a ‘minimum’ €50m valuation to begin negotiations with clubs, and hold a good standing, as Roque has three years remaining on his deal.
Interest from fellow Premier League clubs Chelsea and Spurs, both also lack out-and-out strikers, will give Manchester United issues with potentially getting a deal done.
Roque was one of Europe’s hottest prospect just a couple of years ago when he signed for Barcelona as a 19-year-old.
His potential is unlikely to have diminished since then, but maybe this is a risky deal for Manchester United when considering the €50m+ Palmeiras will demand.
Whatever happens with this one, the Red Devils need a goalscorer through the door if they are to start climbing the table.
