Michael Carrick has officially been made Manchester United’s new permanent manager, and now preparation can begin for next season.
The Red Devils have already agreed terms to see Ederson become their first summer signing when the transfer window opens in July.
His move from Atalanta will set United back by £35 million plus £3.5 million in add-ons, with £150 million having been set aside to sign three new midfielders.
Alongside him, Carrick has the likes of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Elliot Anderson on the shortlist, but no further deals have been made just yet.
However, there is one defender, already in the United ranks, that The Red Devils are looking to secure their long-term future at the club.
Academy talent Godwill Kukonki has routinely impressed on his way through the youth ranks, and is now looking to make his break into the senior side.
Sully has taken to X to reveal that, being in the third year of his scholarship agreement, United are looking to sort his first professional contract, signing the talented left-footed centre-back.
Kukonki has brought a physical presence to the academy side, with his versatility shown off with his ability to play as a left-back as well, linking up with left-winger Noah Ajayi.
Ajayi is also understood to be highly regarded by United, especially by Carrick and is even in contention to be involved in the club’s pre-season plans.
For now, both of the talented youngsters are continuing to develop well in the United academy, with their names sure to feature among the senior squad in the coming years.
