The final weeks of the Premier League are shaping up to be intense at Old Trafford, with Manchester United pushing for a top-four finish and fans filling the Stretford End with energy and expectation.
Leadership on the pitch has been crucial, with experienced players helping guide the younger stars through the pressure.
The squad has shown resilience in key moments, and one figure has consistently drawn attention for both his performances and his presence in the dressing room.
Casemiro will leave Manchester United at the end of the season.
The midfielder revealed in January that he would depart when his £350,000-a-week contract expires, and despite continuing to deliver strong performances, United decided against offering a new deal, as reported by BBC Sport.
Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe had previously expressed shock at Casemiro’s £18.2m annual salary and has made clear that cost-cutting is a priority.
That reportedly influenced the decision not to trigger the extension on his contract, allowing the club to proceed with long-term squad planning.
Casemiro asked for the announcement to be made public to avoid any confusion later this season.
Even with the decision set, Casemiro has continued to impress.
He opened the scoring against Aston Villa on Sunday, marking his seventh goal of the season, six of which were headers, and celebrated by pointing repeatedly to the club badge in front of the Stretford End.
Fans responded with chants of “One more year, Casemiro”, which continued even after the final whistle as the midfielder left the pitch.
Bruno Fernandes, Leny Yoro, and Matheus Cunha all expressed hope that the Brazilian could stay, but sources confirmed to BBC Sport that there is no plan to reconsider.
Interim head coach Michael Carrick added: “When something is decided it makes it a little bit easier and everyone understands the situation,” Carrick said.
“The impact he’s had has been terrific, through his influence within the team and with big moments and goals.
“There was a nice moment at the end with the supporters. He’ll enjoy that one.”
Even with his exit confirmed, Casemiro’s influence at Old Trafford remains undeniable, and every match he plays this season is being savoured by fans across the stadium.
