Manchester United have been hit with yet another injury concern during the international break.
Michael Carrick has already seen his squad heavily impacted by fitness problems in the opening weeks of the season, and the current three-week international window has only added to those concerns.
Karl Darlow, Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford all withdrew from international duty before the window began, while Benjamin Sesko also pulled out of the Slovenia squad because of his ongoing injury problem.
Since then, Patrick Dorgu has suffered an injury with Denmark, forcing him to return to Manchester, while Bruno Fernandes missed Portugal’s victory over Norway after picking up an issue.
Now, another United player has been forced from the pitch while representing his country.
Noussair Mazraoui was forced off injured during Morocco’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old, who recently scored his first goal in 1,231 days, started the game for Morocco but went down in the second half and required attention from the medical staff.
Mazraoui appeared to be in discomfort after a challenge, with his teammates quickly signalling towards the bench before he was eventually forced out of the action.
Footage of the incident was shared by FRMF Xtra on X, who reported that the United defender had gone off injured.
The exact nature and severity of the problem remains unclear at this stage, so United will now face an anxious wait for further information.
It is another unwelcome development for Carrick during a difficult international window.
Darlow, Mainoo, Rashford and Sesko had already withdrawn from their respective squads, while Dorgu’s injury subsequently ended his involvement with Denmark.
Mazraoui’s latest setback therefore adds another name to United’s growing list of fitness concerns ahead of their return to Premier League action.
The Red Devils host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on October 10, giving Mazraoui some time to recover if the injury proves to be minor.
– Noussair Mazraoui sort sur , kheir inshallah.
