Kobbie Mainoo made history as England secured their place in the Euro 2024 final.
The Manchester United midfielder became the youngest-ever player to represent the Three Lions in a semi-final at a major tournament at 19 years and 82 days.
Mainoo, who enjoyed a meteoric rise after an incredible breakthrough season, made 51 touches through the game and completed 36 passes.
He created 2 chances on goal and won all of his duels in the middle of the pitch, as well as 2 interceptions and 2 tackles. It’s no secret that United have a gem on their hands.
The Netherlands took the lead courtesy of a stunning strike from Xavi Simons, who has been linked with a loan move to United from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
England were back level minutes later after Harry Kane scored from a penalty. Gareth Southgate’s side were awarded a spot-kick for a foul by Denzel Dumfries on the Bayern Munich striker, which was given after a pitchside VAR review.
At the start of the second half, United left-back Luke Shaw came on at left-back. He got forward and delivered a low cross into the box begging to be tucked away, but nobody was there to take advantage of it.
Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka also had a goal ruled out.
It took a late Ollie Watkins goal to set up a showdown with Spain, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday evening at 8pm.
This means Southgate has guided England to consecutive European Championship finals.
