Manchester United star takes it upon himself to provide injury update to supporters after latest concern

Manchester United fans were left with concerns over Marcus Rashford’s fitness status when he was forced off with an apparent injury in the second half against Liverpool.

After spending a few minutes walking gingerly around the pitch and evidently in discomfort, the forward signalled to the bench around the 60-minute mark that he was unable to continue. At the time, the scoreline was tied at 1-1, as his exit came just moments prior to Kobbie Mainoo’s scintillating wonder-strike.

Indeed, Mohamed Salah went on to level the scoring again in the closing stages of the clash, leading to the spoils being shared at Old Trafford in Jurgen Klopp’s final meeting with the Red Devils as Liverpool boss.

Should Rashford’s problem be deemed a significant one, he’d presumably join the host of Reds already sidelined with their own respective injury complaints. The latest to be added to the list was Scott McTominay, who was ruled out of yesterday’s fixture in what marked a 56th separate case of injury or illness that has resulted in a player missing a match. 

Erik ten Hag was pressed on the Englishman’s condition post-match and gave an optimistic update on his condition, telling reporters:

Today, Rashford took it upon himself to alleviate supporters’ worries, as he replied to an Instagram comment that read, “Hope you’re ok Rashy” by saying “I will be okay!”
