Only one Manchester United player was cherry-picked by Alan Shearer for his Team of the Week after matchday 21.
The Red Devils oversaw a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in their opening Premier League fixture of the calendar year, taking the lead twice at Old Trafford before eventually being made to settle for a point against Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring in just the third minute of the clash after he swept the ball away from Marcus Rashford’s loose dribble, steadied himself and fired it into the roof of the net – an unstoppable one for Guglielmo Vicario. It marked the forward’s second league goal across his last two outings.
Hojlund then turned playmaker when he set up Rashford to re-give United the lead just moments shy of the interval, which was his first-ever assist as a Red. It was, unfortunately, somewhat in vain when Rodrigo Bentancur equalised shortly after the interval.
Still, the young Dane’s contributions and performance were enough to see him included in Shearer’s list of top performers for the gameweek. He forms a frontline alongside Ivan Toney, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.
