The reign of Erik ten Hag at Manchester United might have been well over a year ago now, but the effects are still being felt at Old Trafford.
Under the Dutch manager across his two-year and three-month spell at the club, The Red Devils won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, however it wasn’t all rosy.
During this time the club fell down the Premier League table, coming in 8th at the end of ten Hag’s last full season and set up United’s 15th place finish the following season.
United fell out of Europe, with the FA Cup win being a lifeline qualification to the Europa League the following year.
However, on top of this, the club spent around £600 million on new signings for the Dutch manager, most of which failed to deliver.
Now, The Sun has reported that United are looking to recoup as much of that as they can being open to offers for five of Erik ten Hag’s signings this summer.
The Red Devils are reportedly open to offers for Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte, Andre Onana and Mason Mount.
Collectively, the five arrived at Old Trafford for £249.8 million, however it’s unlikley United will pull back that about for the five.
First of all, Hojlund is almost guaranteed to leave, with a compulsory buy clause in his loan with Napoli if they qualify for the Champions League.
Alongside the buy clause, Napoli are happy with his performances, understood to want to keep him regardless of the clause.
As such, United are set to bring back £38 million of the £64 million transfer fee they spent on him, which, considering his 21-game goalless streak last season has to be considered a success.
Next up is Zirkzee, with United having bought him from Bologna for £36.5 million in 2024.
While there’s nothing in place as of yet, the former Dutch international still holds high regard in Serie A thanks to his time with Bologna, attracting clubs like Juventus since he first arrived in England.
Manuel Ugarte arrived in the same window for £50.5 million from PSG, however there’s been very little interest in him.
The Uruguay international failed to impress under Erik ten Hag, Ruben Amorim or Michael Carrick and has only been on the pitch for 56 minutes under Carrick.
Next up is Andre Onana who looked set to make his loan move to Trabzonspor permanent, having been replaced as United’s first-choice goalkeeper by Senne Lammens.
However, the move looks less likely now, with United trying to claw back the £43.8 million they spent on the problematic goalkeeper.
Finally is Mason Mount, and while he has shone on the pitch during his spell at Old Trafford after his £55 million move from Chelsea, most of his time has been plagued by injuries.
It’s expected that United are going to struggle to get even half of the £249.8 million they spent on the five, however at this stage, set to let Casemiro and Jadon Sancho leave for free, any transfer fee is vital.
