Speaking to the press on Friday, Michael Carrick gave the updated Manchester United team news.
The interim boss confirmed that midfielder Mason Mount could be in contention to return to action against Villa, stating, “Mason’s back with the group, which is fantastic”, although he went on to say, “He’s not, you know, 100 per cent in terms of [being] back because he’s only trained a very small amount of time”.
Despite being subbed off against Newcastle with a suspected injury, Moroccan Noussair Mazraoui trained this week and could play an important role.
Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Dorgu and Lisandro Martinez all remain out.
During their win on Thursday night, Villa got a further boost as captain John McGinn returned from injury, coming on as a substitute in the 77th minute.
Right back Matty Cash could return, with Unai Emery saying, “Matty Cash is progressing well and tomorrow we’ll see if he can be with us on Sunday or not”.
