Marc Cucurella Injury Status vs Aston Villa Confirmed

After dropping points for a third consecutive match, Chelsea have a pretty big match on their hand this Wednesday in a six-pointer in the race for a place in the Champions League. They take on a similarly out-of-form Aston Villa side with it all to play for as the revamps to both Manchester United and Liverpool threaten to push these two teams out of the top four. Ahead of this key fixture, we will look at what Liam Rosenior had to say about the injury status of Marc Cucurella.

Will Marc Cucurella Start This Week vs Aston Villa

What Liam Rosenior Had to Say

The coach spoke to the media ahead of the midweek fixture and provided updates on a number of players. While he had good news on Cole Palmer and confirmed that the Englishman will be able to start against the Villans, he had less positive news on some of the others. Estevao has only returned to train on the grass.

When speaking on his Spanish left-back, Rosenior noted that “hopefully we can get him involved for Saturday”. While the player is reportedly looking good, it seems that this match with Aston Villa will come just a little too quickly for him, with the weekend being a safer time to work him back in.

What This Means for Chelsea

In the interest of keeping one of their best players fit, the Blues will likely have to play without Cucurella this Wednesday. With Jorrel Hato starting and looking good against Arsenal he could be trusted to deputise for another match, if not then the rested Malo Gusto could move back to the left-back spot.

What does seem positive is, the Spaniard’s injury is close to being healed, which could see him play a key part in the Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain in mid-March.
