Manchester United are just days away from beginning their preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 season.
The 2024/25 campaign was disastrous for Manchester United, with the club’s worst-ever finish in the Premier League and the Europa League final defeat also ensured Ruben Amorim went trophyless.
With pressure mounting to start strong next season, Amorim has set clear deadlines for pre-season, determined to have his squad ready for the opening fixture with top-four rivals Arsenal.
Manchester United begin training at Carrington on July 7, with players returning ahead of their first friendly against Leeds United just 12 days later. For now, there are doubts about some players whose futures are uncertain and who could be left out of the group.
As per The Athletic, Marcus Rashford plans to return to Carrington on July 7, even after being frozen out by Amorim last season due to concerns over his training work rate.
Amorim didn’t mince his words about Rashford when asked about the decision to drop him from the squad, but still spoke positively about the player later in the season.
United will reportedly welcome the English forward at Carrington next week. However, he is not expected to be included in the squad for the pre-season tour of the USA.
Rashford, who has three years left on his contract, is back on United’s books after a loan spell at Aston Villa. Meanwhile, talks continue with clubs ranging from Serie A to the Bundesliga, with Barcelona still linked despite an unwillingness to match the £40 million asking price.
Amorim’s preference may still be to leave Rashford off the tour, leaving the player’s immediate future and role in the squad as uncertain as ever.
