Marcus Rashford blames the inconsistent environment at Manchester United for his struggles

Manchester United once placed Marcus Rashford at the heart of everything. He rose from the academy to the first team as if it were destiny. Yet over the years, that bright start lost rhythm. Behind the goals and bursts of pace, unease grew.

The noise around Old Trafford grew heavier. The dressing room mood turned darker, and Rashford lost his spark in that storm. His confidence wavered as the team kept changing managers and ideas.

In a candid conversation with ITV, reported by SPORTbible, Rashford admitted he struggled to stay consistent in such surroundings. The 27-year-old attacker said consistency needs stability, and he never felt that at Manchester United. His words showed how he fought against chaos while trying to meet his own standards. He didn’t seek sympathy; he simply showed the exhaustion of a player trying to stay steady while everything around him tilted.

“For sure, consistency is a massive part of it. I feel like I have been in an inconsistent environment for a very long time, so it is even more difficult to be consistent. But I completely agree, I think consistency is what I need to bring into my game, and I am looking to do that.”

A player reborn in Barcelona colours

Rashford ended his time at Manchester United this summer with a lot of bad memories. He had to face the controversies, the fine, and the public fallouts with both Ruben Amorim and Erik Ten Hag. All of these simply damaged the reputation that he had at his boyhood club. Moreover, the Englishman was never the same after his brilliant 2022-23 season, and people started questioning whether he was giving his all in the Red Devils jersey.

Amorim kept him out of the squad repeatedly, and that basically ended the relationship between the two parties. The 27-year-old had no other option rather to leave United, and he went on loan to Aston Villa in the second half of the last season. He regained his form somewhat. Now, under Hansi Flick, the winger looks lighter, freer, and sharper.

Rashford has scored three goals and provided five assists in 10 appearances. He has found rhythm again. His link-up play keeps Flick’s attack flowing. Barcelona are also considering the option of making his loan permanent next summer.

Flick benched him for one game for disciplinary reasons, showing that he values attitude as much as talent. Rashford answered that setback with focus and hard work. He rebuilt trust through effort and performance.

We reported earlier that Rashford shows a clear preference to stay at Barcelona. That makes sense because he feels comfortable and confident there. Meanwhile, Joshua Zirkzee feels frustrated with Ruben Amorim for limiting his minutes, which shows Manchester United’s internal balance remains uneasy. Rashford’s story tells how a player can rediscover purpose when he finds peace away from noise.

The English international’s journey from turbulence to renewal proves that consistency grows in calm surroundings. Manchester United must reflect on what they lost, while Barcelona prepare to keep what they’ve found. What do you think? Does Rashford deserve a permanent stay in Spain, or should Manchester United bring him back?
