Marcus Rashford transfer stance taken by Manchester United

Manchester United’s renewed momentum on the pitch, under newly appointed interim boss Michael Carrick, has not stopped key off-field decisions from quietly taking shape behind the scenes, particularly as the club looks ahead to a pivotal summer.

While attention at Old Trafford seems firmly on securing UEFA Champions League qualification under Carrick, developments involving players currently away from the club continue to attract interest – none more so than Marcus Rashford.

Last summer, the England international joined Spanish giants FC Barcelona on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Rashford’s spell in Spain has sparked widespread discussion in recent months, with speculation suggesting that Barcelona could look to renegotiate terms if they decide to make the move permanent.

However, that idea appears to have been firmly shut down.

According to a report from SPORT, Manchester United have taken a clear and uncompromising stance over Rashford’s future – and crucially, over his price.

The report states that the Red Devils will not accept a penny less than the €30 million figure agreed in the original deal.

Despite rumours in Spain that Barcelona may attempt to reduce the fee through negotiation or extended talks, United are said to have no intention of reopening discussions.

From Manchester United’s perspective, the position is straightforward.

Rashford’s performance, experience at elite level, and strong output this season have only reinforced the club’s belief that the agreed valuation accurately reflects his market worth.

As a result, Barcelona’s only route to securing the forward on a permanent basis would be to activate the clause in full.

It is also added that Barcelona internally view the fee as manageable, particularly when compared to the inflated costs of alternative wingers on the market.

That assessment, however, has not altered United’s stance, with the Premier League club unwilling to offer any discount or revised structure.

The firm approach also reflects United’s wider transfer policy as they move into a crucial rebuilding phase.

With squad planning already underway and multiple areas identified for reinforcement, the club are keen to maintain control over outgoing business rather than allowing drawn-out negotiations to dictate their summer strategy.

For now, Rashford’s focus remains on finishing the season strongly, while both clubs wait for the appropriate moment to formalise their next steps.

But if the report is accurate, one thing is already clear: Manchester United will only sanction a permanent exit on their terms – and at their price.
