Giuseppe Marotta took stock of the strong start by Inter and the recent events in an interview with Radio Anch’Io Lo Sport. He addressed the injury suffered by Marko Arnautovic and stated they wouldn’t sign a free agent (via Mediaset).

“We’re sorry because he fit in well. I believe in the versatility of our players. I’m sure Simone Inzaghi will find the right remedy. We’ll continue with this squad.”

According to Sky, the striker will miss 45-to-60 days due to a medium-grade lesion of the MTJ of the biceps femoris muscle of his left thigh. Marotta was quizzed about the pending extensions, in particular Federico Dimarco’s one.

“I’m very happy with him because he embodies a great sense of belonging and attachment to our colors. We’re proud of that. He has grown constantly, and he can still improve in my mind. We’ll meet with our sporting director Piero Ausilio to discuss a renewal, rather than an extension. We have great respect for Federico.”

Marotta is pleased with the early results, although they couldn’t win their Champions League debut.

“Life is made of dreams and reality. The second says that we’re hunting for the second start. At the same time, we have to look at the continental competition with optimism. We came close last season. Real Sociedad are very strong and particularly aggressive at home. They are a technical side. They bothered us, plus the coach rotated a little to use players that had never featured together.”
