Marquinhos Discusses the Chemistry Between Messi and Mbappe at PSG

There was much expectation when Lionel Messi opted to sign with Paris Saint-Germain that he would go on to form keen chemistry with former Barcelona teammate Neymar. However, it has rather been Kylian Mbappe that Messi has shined the most with among PSG’s attackers on the roster so far this season.

For PSG defender Marquinhos, he well recognizes just how the two have shined together as of late, including in PSG’s recent Ligue 1 home win over Rennes. The Brazilian defender spoke further to Prime Video Sport France (via Le10Sport) about how Mbappe has had success with Messi so far this season.

“He has this quality and this tranquility in front of goal,” Marquinhos said. “Afterwards, I think it’s also teamwork, it’s Messi who finds Kylian, and once he’s in the box, it’s hard to stop him.”

Messi assisted Mbappe for what turned out to be the game-winning goal of the contest against Rennes. On the other side, Mbappe has also assisted Messi for pivotal goals as well, including the Argentine’s key score in PSG’s UEFA Champions League home group stage match against Club Brugge in the first half of the season.

For now, a key test awaits Messi and Mbappe in PSG’s upcoming Champions League round of 16 first leg match against Real Madrid.
