Regardless of whether Tottenham Hotspur win the UEFA Europa League, it looks set to be a summer of change in North London, with Ange Postecoglou expected to leave the club. However, the Australian tactician might not be the only person headed for the exit door at White Hart Lane, with the future of several players also uncertain.
Perhaps the most likely player to leave Spurs is Cristian Romero, who is a major summer target for Atletico Madrid. But, the Argentine is not the only player trying to leave Tottenham. A few of our loanees are set to return to N17 at the end of the season, and the Hotspur Way chiefs will then take a decision on their futures.
Manor Solomon is one of them. The Spurs winger has enjoyed a productive season on loan at Leeds United. He has registered 10 goals and 12 assists in the Championship, helping Leeds United clinch top-flight promotion. The Israel international scored a 91st-minute winner on Saturday, as the Whites beat Plymouth 2-1 and won the Championship title on goal difference.
After a successful campaign at Elland Road, Leeds are planning to sign Manor Solomon permanently from Spurs. The focus for Daniel Farke will be to help Leeds stay up next season, and he will need all the help he can get in the transfer market. Tottenham are willing to sell the 25-year-old in the summer, but it looks like the Peacocks are not expected to have a clear run at him.
According to a report from Team Football, Marseille are working behind the scenes to try and sign Solomon from Spurs. This has put Leeds on ‘red alert’, with Marseille boss Roberto de Zerbi impressed by the diminutive winger’s playing style, versatility, vision and off-the-ball output.
The French side are understood to have already begun concrete negotiations with Solomon’s entourage ahead of a possible summer move. While the Kefar Sava-born talent prefers remaining in England, he is open to offers outside the Premier League in a boost to Marseille.
Tottenham value the Israeli star at around €17 million , and if the bidding war between Marseille and Leeds erupts, Daniel Levy will be certain to get the quoted fee which could be used in revamping the Spurs squad. Solomon’s time at Tottenham wasn’t great at all. He barely played under Postecoglou, and it was clear that he wasn’t going to get any significant game time in North London.
With clubs starting to circle for Solomon after a fantastic season with Leeds in the Championship, our club bosses must stick to their valuation of the player and get a good fee from his sale.
