Uncertainty surrounding several prominent players in Europe is shaping the conversation ahead of what could be another unpredictable summer transfer window for Manchester United.

The club plans to keep a close watch on various situations abroad, especially involving former players whose futures may impact the Red Devils financially.

One case attracting attention involves a former United forward currently playing in France after leaving Old Trafford for a new start.

The situation is complicated by instability at his current club, which may lead to a summer shake-up involving several first-team stars.

Olympique de Marseille has faced a season full of changes, and this turbulence may not end when the campaign wraps up.

Reports from the French press indicate that the squad, previously arranged to fit former manager Roberto De Zerbi’s vision, could soon be broken apart after the Italian’s departure last month.

Without the manager who directed much of the project, several players now face uncertain futures at the Stade Velodrome as the club readies for a potentially chaotic transfer window.

Among those players is Mason Greenwood, who has revived his career in France and remains one of Marseille’s most valuable assets in the transfer market.

Despite his significance to the team, the report suggests the club may have to think about selling several key players this summer, regardless of whether they qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Greenwood’s name stands out due to his market value, although any transfer would not result in a complete financial gain for Marseille.

Manchester United still holds a substantial percentage of the player’s rights after his exit, with the sell-on clause reportedly between 35 and 40 percent.

This arrangement means that any transfer fee received by Marseille would return a significant portion to Old Trafford.

While nothing is certain yet, there are signals that Mason Greenwood could draw strong interest when the window opens.

According to L’Equipe, via GET,  a move to Saudi Arabia is a real possibility for the attacker if a fitting offer is made in the coming months.

This move could offer Greenwood a fresh start, especially after tensions with Marseille supporters were evident during their defeat to Toulouse FC, where flares were thrown onto the pitch and unrest erupted in the stands.

He is not the only player with an uncertain future at Marseille.

Goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli and midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia are both nearing the final year of their contracts, with contract extension talks reportedly not yet started.

Additionally, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also unlikely to sign a new deal before his current contract runs out in 2027.

Midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has also been mentioned as another possible departure as Marseille considers their plans for next season.

For Manchester United, the situation is one to watch closely, as any movement involving Greenwood could bring financial benefits back to the club during what is expected to be another busy summer in European football.
