Brendan Rodgers’ side will take on Portuguese outfit Braga tomorrow night for Europa League Matchday Two, with Tobias Stieler named the whistler for the encounter.
Lasse Koslowski and Mark Borsch have been appointed as Stieler’s linesman and Timo Gerach will act as the fourth official with the four officials coming from Germany.
German referee Christian Dingert will operate VAR, with Dutchman Pol van Boekel assisting Dingert as his AVAR.
Stieler has previously refereed two Celtic matches in his career: the Hoops’ dramatic 2-1 victory over Lazio in Italy in 2019 and the 4-1 loss to Sparta Prague a year later, both during Neil Lennon’s tenure.
Meanwhile, Celtic will be back at Celtic Park this weekend to face Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership, completing a run of three consecutive home matches across all competitions.
Calum Scott will referee the match, with Calum Spence and Ross Anderson running the lines. Gavin Duncan will be on VAR duties, with Gary Hilland also providing support from Clydesdale House.
Scott handled several Celtic fixtures as referee last season, starting with the 5-2 Premier Sports Cup League Cup quarter-final win against Falkirk at Celtic Park.
He then took charge as referee for Celtic’s 5-0 home victory over Ross County, with Rodgers’ men comfortably overcoming the now Scottish Championship side last November.
Scott also officiated the Motherwell v Celtic league match at Fir Park in February and also the Scottish Cup semi-final between Celtic and St Johnstone, which ended in a 5-0 win for the Hoops.
Both upcoming games are must-wins for Celtic. Four points from two games in the Europa League would be a great start and give the side a decent base heading into the four other European games between now and the end of the group stages.
In the league, it will be a tough game on Sunday against a well-organised and impressive Motherwell side who come to Parkhead unbeaten this season. Celtic will have to be on it and return to winning ways following last weekend’s disappointing result against Hibernian.
