Celtic star Matt O’Riley has reacted to a terrific evening at the club’s Player of the Year event that saw the 23-year-old pick up all the awards for the mens team. The Danish International scored Celtic’s opener in the win over Rangers on Saturday before taking to the stage at the OVO Hydro to collect the Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Players Player of the Year accolades.

Taking to Instagram, O’Riley thanked the fans as well as his teammates before saying that he was grateful to be part of the Celtic family.

Speaking after the game, O’Riley was as humble as ever as he discussed the awards.

After arriving from MK Dons in the January of 2022, O’Riley became a key first team figure under Ange Postecoglou. However, this season, he has really kicked on and was the standout Celtic performer – even if he did praise another excellent Celt, Joe Hart, as he collected the award.

O’Riley has made 46 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 16 times and assisting on 17 occasions. The player has attracted transfer interest from Atletico Madrid, who were clearly impressed by his impressive MOTM display against the La Liga outfit, and it is expected that they will revisit their interest in the player during the summer. It is almost inevitable that the performances of such a talented player will catch the attention of Premier League, La Liga and Serie A teams but O’Riley clearly loves playing for the club and might fancy a crack at another Champions League campaign before moving on.
