Matthaus backing Aston Villa boss Emery for Bayern Munich

Germany great Lothar Matthaus has tipped Aston Villa boss Unai Emery for Bayern Munich.

Thomas Tuchel will leave Bayern at the end of the season.

Former Bayern captain Matthaus said: "Unai Emery is in fourth place with Aston Villa and is currently leaving teams like Tottenham and Chelsea behind. That speaks of his work. He has a lot of experience in the international sector, in Spain and England. He played attractive football at Arsenal, albeit unsuccessfully. But now at Aston Villa. He can coach big teams.

"I already said it, at Bayern you have to be communicative and Mourinho was always a one-man show, he always put himself above the club. And I don't think that will sit well with Bayern.

"Zidane is a really big name, but he is no longer one of my favourites. He was world champion, European champion, world footballer, he achieved everything as a player and was also very successful as a coach at Real. His success would be good for Bayern. But you also have to look at the language.
