AC Milan have shown serious interest in signing Senegalese forward Boulaye Dia from Salernitana in a deal that could end up reaching €15m, a report claims.

As has been reported by Il Mattino (via Milan News), the Rossoneri have requested a bit more information from Salernitana about what it would take to sign him in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old Dia was one of the best strikers in Serie A during the 2022/23 season whilst on loan from Villarreal. He managed to net 16 league goals and he also got six assists.

That form led Salernitana to pay the €12m needed to make the loan deal permanent, but 2023/24 has not been as successful for Dia or the team.

He is currently injured and has only got four goals so far from 13 appearances. Given the drop in form and his age, it is a move that would come with risk for Milan.

The release clause in his Salernitana contract is €21m but Milan have told the Granata sporting director Walter Sabatini that they won’t meet that valuation.

The Rossoneri think €15m is a fairer price and Salernitana may decide to cash in on Dia through fear of his value declining over the course of the season.
