Luka Vuskovic is continuing to impress during his loan spell at Hamburger SV this season.

Tottenham loanee Luka Vuskovic is enjoying life in the Bundesliga after making the move to Hamburger SV on a short-term loan deal. In hindsight, it appears the 18-year-old made the right decision by heading out on loan to continue his development, rather than staying on the fringes and waiting for limited opportunities at N17 under Thomas Frank.

Vuskovic has quickly become an important member of Hamburg’s squad this season as they push for promotion to the top flight in Germany. The highly rated defender has already won two Bundesliga Rookie of the Month awards, underlining his importance in Merlin Polzin’s side. He has marshalled the backline effectively, topping the charts for aerial duels won while also emerging as one of the league’s best tacklers.

Still only 18, Vuskovic has already demonstrated immense talent and the potential to become one of Europe’s top defenders in the coming years. His impressive form for Hamburg this season also earned him a call-up to the Croatia national team during the November international break. That recognition highlights just how strong his performances have been during his time in the Bundesliga.

Tottenham have a gem in Luka Vuskovic

Tottenham loanee Luka Vuskovic is earning widespread praise for his displays in Hamburg colours this season. He has been a consistent goal threat for the German side, making a crucial impact at both ends of the pitch. It is therefore no surprise that the 18-year-old is currently the third-highest rated teenager across Europe’s top five leagues. Given his performances, the young defender fully deserves to be in that category.

Hamburg manager Merlin Polzin has now praised Vuskovic’s work ethic as the talented teenager continues to make significant strides in Germany. Speaking to BILD (via Sport Witness), Polzin said, highlighting Vuskovic’s one key factor:

“He has exceptional talent. But what impresses me even more than his occasional good plays on the pitch is his work ethic. If I’m in the office very, very early in the morning, he’s there just before or after me, working out in the weight room. What I really like is his self-criticism.”

There is little doubt about Luka Vuskovic’s immense talent. The young defender has repeatedly shown that he is one of the most exciting prospects in Europe through his performances at the highest level in Germany. Beyond his displays on the pitch, Polzin has been particularly impressed by the teenager’s work ethic and his determination to keep improving.

Spurs supporters will be encouraged by how well the 18-year-old has performed in the Bundesliga this season. The Lilywhites should look to keep hold of Vuskovic and consider building the team around him next season if they want to close the gap on their rivals under Thomas Frank. The talented defender has already shown that he can compete for a starting place at N17 , pushing the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven for their spots.

The North Londoners will be hoping to secure Vuskovic’s long-term future at the club, especially with several Bundesliga sides reportedly keen on signing him permanently. Spurs must ensure they offer him a clear pathway into the first-team set-up next season, while also rewarding him with an improved contract to reflect his growing importance to the squad.
