Tottenham Hotspur are keen to seal the signing of Takefusa Kubo from Real Sociedad

Mounting injuries and lacklustre attacking displays have disrupted Tottenham’s campaign. Several key attackers, including Dejan Kulusevski, Dominic Solanke, and James Maddison, have been sidelined for a lengthy period due to injuries. Brazilian forward Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani have been struggling for form. In light of this, it only makes sense for Thomas Frank to look for new recruitments after the winter transfer window commences.

Spurs are believed to be in the market for new attackers in January. They have closely monitored several options across Europe, but are strongly linked with Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo.

Kubo is considered one of the best wingers in world football. His dribbling, pace, intelligence, and goal-scoring capability have made him a nightmare for LaLiga defenders to deal with.

Sociedad completed the signing of Kubo from Real Madrid in 2022. Since then, he has been a vital player in their squad, scoring 24 goals in 147 appearances for the club in all competitions. However, the statistics do not reflect his true potential, as he is often referred to as the ‘Japanese Messi‘ by football fans due to his ability on the ball.

Tottenham News has reported that the winger is unhappy with the current sporting project at Real Sociedad and is ready to embark on a new journey. He has drawn the attention of several top European clubs, but Spurs are believed to be in the driving seat for his signature.

Kubo would bring all the attributes that Thomas Frank’s side is lacking right now. His versatility would allow Frank to experiment with different combinations in the frontline. Sociedad are reportedly demanding a club record fee of £52.7 million for his services, and are hoping to get the deal finalized at the earliest, allowing them to find a suitable replacement in time.

Takefusa Kubo: The perfect replacement for Son Heung-min?

Tottenham bid farewell to club legend Son Heung-min this summer, dispatching the South Korean to the MLS. The Lilywhites then completed the blockbuster signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, but are still lacking depth in the attack.

Completing the signing of Kubo would give Thomas Frank more flexibility to rotate his squad. A player of Kubo’s quality and potential could one day carry on Son’s legendary legacy at the club. With the right guidance and coaching at the club, his £52.7 million price tag could soon be forgotten.

With Kubo eager for a Premier League move and Spurs in desperate need of a new attacker, a deal between the clubs is expected to be reached soon.
