Amad from missing from Manchester United’s matchday squad today as the team lost 2-0 to Hull City at MKM Stadium.

The United youth academy graduate was not the only player missing from the fixture, with Mason Mount, Matthijs de Ligt, and Lisandro Martinez also not featuring on the bench.

United’s number 16 made 32 Premier League appearances last season for the club, scoring two goals and providing three assists.

At the World Cup this summer, the 24-year-old featured for Ivory Coast as he scored three times prior to being eliminated against Norway.

With Amad missing from United’s squad against Hull, attention switched to Michael Carrick to see if the manager could provided an update on the attacker’s condition.

Carrick responded to those questions, informing Manchester United supporters about the 24-year-old before the match against Hull began.

“He just picked up a niggle right at the end of the week, in training. We’ll assess that and see where he’s at,” the manager said.

Carrick continued: “Hopefully, it won’t be too long but we’ll have to wait and see. He was in a good place, Amad.

“He was looking sharp and obviously looking forward to the season, so it’s disappointing but, unfortunately, that’s part of it.

“We’ve got the squad that we can cope with it, so we’ve got to keep moving and, hopefully, we’ll get Amad back soon.”

Manchester United are due to face Ipswich Town in their next Premier League match next Sunday at Old Trafford.

Whilst it remains to be seen whether Amad will feature against The Tractor Boys, news that the attacker has only picked up a niggle can be seen as positive.

Focus will now switch towards Carrick to see if he provides further updates on the 24-year-old in his pre-match press conference before the fixture against Ipswich.
