Marcus Rashford is currently approaching the later stages of his loan spell at Barcelona, a spell that started when he joined the club in last summer’s transfer window.
The 28-year-old has scored nine times in 31 games across all competitions for the LaLiga outfit whilst also providing nine assists too helping to push Barcelona closer towards their aims.
One of these aims could be to have a good run in the UEFA Champions League, where Rashford has excelled this season (five goals, three assists).
Barcelona have not won the tournament for over a decade and could look towards the trophy should they make it to the quarter-finals or semi-finals. However, given his impact, Rashford will arguably be crucial in dictating how the side perform.
Away from the Champions League, some supporters have started to look towards the end of the season (when Rashford’s loan ends).
Whilst Barcelona and Manchester United have met to discuss a potential deal, The Telegraph are reporting that, should Michael Carrick be appointed permanently as United manager, he would want Marcus Rashford back at Old Trafford.
So far in Carrick’s second spell with the Red Devils, United have won two game out of two with these falling against Manchester City and Arsenal.
With this in mind, some Manchester United supporters have discussed the possibility of Carrick staying at the helm beyond the end the season (when it is expected that he will be replaced by another manager).
Carrick and Rashford had been teammates at United in 2016 under the leadership of Louie van Gaal.
Meanwhile, Rashford appeared in each of Carrick’s three games as caretaker manager in 2021, providing an assist against Arsenal in a memorable 3-2 victory.
If Marcus Rashford was to return to Old Trafford under Carrick, it would mark a major moment, both for the English international and for the manager himself.
