Tottenham star Richarlison is linked with a move to Turkey as question marks over his future create headlines

It is fair to suggest that Tottenham star Richarlison has not lived up to his potential at N17. The Brazil international has been in and out of the team ever since his high-profile move back in 2022. The fans were excited to see how the transfer would turn out when the 28-year-old first joined the Lilywhites after a successful stint at Everton.

But it has just not worked out for the forward at Hotspur Way. Numerous injuries and lack of consistency have not helped his cause either and Richarlison also fell down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou last season. The 28-year-old has never seemed to make the number nine position his own despite being given numerous opportunities to do so.

As per Sofascore, the Spurs No.9 racked up five goals and two assists in 24 games in all competitions. These are not impressive numbers for a player that is fighting hard to be in the starting eleven at the ‘top six’ club. The Brazilian’s ex-teammate Troy Deeney also called out the 28-year-old recently and urged clubs to stay away from him. Deeney believed that Richarlison’s focus has shifted due to the astounding money he has been offered at N17.

Tottenham star Richarlison is facing an uncertain future at N17

There is no surprise that Tottenham are willing to cash-in on Richarlison in the summer. The Brazil international is linked with a move to Galatasaray in the summer, and Daniel Levy is hoping to recoup half of what Spurs paid to get the striker to N17 in 2022. With the World Cup coming up next year, the 28-year-old wants to play regularly as he hopes to be selected for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

However, Alasdair Gold believes that the ex-Everton star might still get a chance to revive his career at N17. Speaking on the Gold and Guest Podcast, Gold said,

“Thomas Frank might come in and absolutely love him. He might really just click with him in training. He’s going to be on a desperate mission to kind of impress because he wants to play regularly ahead of the World Cup.”

The journalist added,

“There are going to be a lot of games to go around next season with the Champions League matches, and the rotation that’s going to be needed for that in the Premier League every 3-4 days. So, if he can stay fit, he and Solanke are going to share the load of that.”

Alasdair Gold suggests that Thomas Frank might change his position on Richarlison if the Brazilian does well in training and pre-season. The journalist added that the Spurs No.9 wants to play in the World Cup next year and he might be ‘desperate’ to impress the new manager. Gold pointed out that the Lilywhites would need to rotate heavily next season due to the Champions League matches, so Richarlison might have a chance to impress if he stays fit for most parts of next season.

Also, Thomas Frank prefers to play two strikers up top as well. So, Richarlison might be able to share the workload with the England international heading into next season. The 28-year-old is also comfortable playing on the left-flank, and his versatility would prove to be a crucial factor in deciding his future at N17.
