There is more bad news for Milan, because Kyle Walker – on loan from Manchester City – has undergone surgery for a fractured elbow and could be out of action for a while.

It was reported to be a training ground accident, which tests showed were more serious than previously thought.

“AC Milan can confirm that Kyle Walker sustained a fracture in his right elbow today,” read a statement released on the official website this evening.

“To ensure better healing and optimise recovery time, the player underwent surgery in Milan to repair the olecranon through osteosynthesis. The operation went perfectly to plan. Kyle will begin rehabilitation immediately.”

It is not clear how long this will take to recover from, but there are only seven Serie A rounds left in the current campaign.

According to MilanNews.it, they hope that he can be back in action within four weeks.

Walker a big loss for Milan

The England international right-back turns 35 next month and is widely expected to make the move a permanent one to Milan from Manchester City this summer.

Since arriving on loan in the January transfer window, Walker has quickly become a key figure in the Rossoneri defence.

He has played eight Serie A games, four in the Champions League and two in the Coppa Italia.

Along with challenging for European qualification in Serie A, Milan are also in the Coppa Italia semi-final against rivals Inter, having drawn the first leg 1-1.
