Juventus have confirmed that midfielder Fabio Miretti will miss the start of the season after sustaining a muscular injury.
The player pulled up during yesterday’s 2-0 friendly win over the Juventus Next Gen squad at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin.
A statement from the club today confirmed that tests showed a low grade lesion to the semitendinosus muscle in the right thigh.
This is effectively similar to a hamstring strain, but as the lesion is low grade, it could’ve been worse for the former Genoa midfielder.
The medical note confirms Miretti will have further tests in 10-15 days to give a more precise idea of how long it will take to make a full recovery.
This means he will certainly miss the start of the season and is expected to be out of action for at least a month.
It is a further blow for Juventus, because Miretti had been one of the players on the transfer market, so this injury could stall any potential sale.
