AC Milan’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada gave an update on the renewal of Theo Hernandez and spoke about the change in formation.
There are a number of big decisions for the Milan leadership to make in the coming days, including picking the right sporting director and potentially head coach too, given the rumours about Sergio Conceicao’s departure.
Moreover, there are some contract situations to address. Theo and Mike Maignan both have deals which expire in 2026 so a crossroads of sorts is approaching. The French duo would surely become sale candidates if they were to not renew before the end of the summer window.
Moncada spoke to DAZN not long before kick-off at San Siro with Milan hosting Atalanta, and his comments were relayed by MilanNews.
Is the 3-4-3 the right formation?
“I really liked Milan in Udine.Conceicao worked on it for a month. We have the players to play this formation with Pavlovic, two very attacking full-backs, Fofana who can cover, Walker can play as a third centre-back…”
Could it earn Theo a renewal?
“I really like Theo. I know he can play games like in Udine tonight. We’re talking, we’re working. We’re not that far out. I hope this formation makes him even stronger.”
