Alvaro Morata and Sergi Roberto react to Sergio Busquets’ retirement with social media messages: ‘One of the greatest Spanish footballers in history.’
Spanish legend Sergio Busquets has announced his retirement at the end of the season, and two of his compatriots, Morata and Sergi Roberto, reacted to the news on social media.
Morata and Sergi Roberto, now at Como, spent several years with Busquets in the Spanish national team, and Roberto was also one of his teammates at Barcelona.
“What a true honour it has been to share so many years with you,” the former Blaugrana wrote on Instagram, sharing a few pictures alongside his former teammate.
“You have been a great example for me, an example of humility, consistency and above all, a great friend! The best holding midfielder I have ever seen. Eternally underrated. Thank you for everything, legend.”

Morata added in his own social media post: “One of the greatest Spanish footballers in history. You play, and you used to play a different spot altogether, Busy. Thank you for everything. I wish all the best to you and your wonderful family.”
Another Spaniard at Como, coach Fabregas, spoke about Busquets during a press conference on Friday, saying that the ex-Barcelona star wants to become a coach after hanging up his boots.
Como have recently qualified for the Coppa Italia Round of 16 and will meet regional rivals Cremonese in the next Serie A round.
