The process for parties to buy Manchester United descended into farce this week.

The Red Devils' owners, the Glazer family, set a Wednesday deadline for a second round of bids for the club.

However, it has emerged that both the Qatari royal family's bid and Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS failed to submit improved offers on time.

Both parties have been granted an extension, per The Mail, which means they have until the end of the week to submit the offers.

The offers are expected to be worth at least 5 billion, making this the most significant sale of a sports team in history.

Other parties are also involved in the process, but they have not been made public by The Raine Group that is managing the process.
