'More likely to stay'- Tottenham set to miss out on Italian boss; he wants to stay in Serie A

Simone Inzaghi wants to continue his project at Inter Milan amid Tottenham links

Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham has been in the media spotlight for quite some time now. The Australian is kept in the dark regarding his fate at N17, and many fans are hoping that the club takes the right decision regarding the managerial situation at Hotspur Way. The Lilywhites have endured a tough domestic campaign under Big Ange this season as well.

However, the ex-Celtic boss has forever etched his name in the Spurs folklore after ending the club’s 17-year wait for a major trophy this season. The Lilywhites won the Europa League against all odds by beating Manchester United in the final last week. Winning the competition also ensured Champions League qualification for next season as the North London club looks to close the gap on their rivals.

But the domestic campaign has been a complete contrast to the European journey Spurs have endured. The North London club finished the Premier League season just a place above the relegation zone and registered 22 losses along the way. It is fair to say that Ange’s men wrote the domestic campaign off midway through the season and focused solely on the Europa League.

Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi looks all set to snub Tottenham approach

There is no surprise that Daniel Levy has started looking for potential managers that could replace Ange Postecoglou at the helm if the Australian tactician is relieved from his duties. It was reported earlier last week that Levy was leaning towards sacking Big Ange in the summer, despite the Europa League success.

As per TBR Football, one of the managers that Spurs are linked with is Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi. However, it looks increasingly unlikely that the Italian tactician will leave San Siro for pastures new in the summer. The aforementioned report also suggests that Inzaghi wants to continue his project at Inter as they look to win the Champions League this season.

Now, reliable journalist Tom Barclay has also relayed the same message. Speaking on The Tottenham Way podcast (as transcribed by TBR Football), Barclay said,

“Simone Inzaghi is a sort of new one. Obviously, the Paratici link is understandable with an Italian and one who’s doing so well as that. The last time I spoke to quite a lot of counterparts in the Italian press, they seemed to be under the impression that he would be staying no matter what at Inter Milan next season. You could make the case that if he loses, he might be even more likely to stay because he wants to go and finish the job, I suppose.”

  • Hiring Simone Inzaghi in the summer was always going to be a longshot in all fairness. But now that the deal is unlikely to follow through, Daniel Levy must switch his focus on other managers if the Spurs chairman wants to replace Ange Postecoglou. Former Ajax boss Francesco Farioli is also linked with a move to N17 and Levy believes that the tactician will be a perfect fit to kickstart a new era at Hotspur Way heading into next season.
