Yunus Musah is officially an AC Milan player, having been announced by the club earlier this evening, and the midfielder is delighted with the move. He has now shared his first words.

Musah arrived in Italy late last night and after completing the medical tests this morning, he signed the contract at Casa Milan. The Rossoneri announced his arrival shortly thereafter, which you can read here.

As is customary for a new signing, Musah spoke to MilanTV (see video below) about the move in general and his preferred position. He also explained why he chose the number 18 and revealed that he used to joke about coming to Milan with Gennaro Gattuso.

On the move…

“I’m very happy, today my mouth is hurting from all the smiling. I don’t know what to say, I want to thank everyone. I will need to take time to understand what has happened. I’m just so happy.”

On when he started to play football…

“I remember when I was really little, we used to play a 7-a-side and I loved to dribble. I played football so much. I’d play at my club, and then when I got home, and in school. I was always playing football.”

On football and culture…

“Having a strong bond with your teammates helps understand different people and different cultures. Meeting different people is really interesting and it can be useful in life. I’m fortunate to return to Italy, I’ve already lived here for a while and it was a great experience.”

On Pulisic…

“I’ve spoken with Christian, he was asking me how things were going and he congratulated me when he saw that I was about to sign. I’m delighted that we will be playing together at a club level as well as for the national team.”

On Milan idols…

“There are so many Milan players I have admired: Clarence Seedorf, Pato, Ronaldinho. The players from that period mostly because my brother was a Milan fan and I got to know a lot about the club.”

On his number…

“I looked at the numbers available and I saw 80 wasn’t taken and I remembered that Ronaldinho used to wear it here. Wearing the same number as him will be extraordinary.”

On Gattuso…

“I would take about Milan with Gattuso while at Valencia, we used to joke about me coming here. Now, I am here. On the field, I love being in midfield and having opponents ahead of me, when I can take my man on one-on-one, that’s what I love the most.”

On life off the pitch…

“Off the field, I’m a  friendly person, I don’t like arguing with people so I’m really patient.”

Final message…

“I would like to say thank you for all the messages I have received over the last month, I can’t wait to play in front of the fans and get all of your support. Forza Milan!”
