Scott McTominay has been central to Napoli’s operation since joining the club on a permanent basis from Manchester United in 2024.
In his time at the Naples outfit, the Scottish international has made 70 appearances whilst scoring 23 times too, helping the side in their efforts to succeed.
Meanwhile, following his efforts in helping Napoli win Serie A last season, he was honoured with a shrine in Naples, showing how he has been able to become a fan favourite amongst supporters.
As well as this, he became the first Scottish person to score the first goal of a Serie A campaign at the start of this season whilst also being pivotal in the side’s efforts to sign Rasmus Hojlund on a loan basis.
However, in recent weeks, his future at the club has been put under question with Napoli reported to be open to selling the midfielder.
With this in mind, Manchester United have been named as one of the leading clubs for the Scottish international.
But, now, according to Corriere Dello Sport, Napoli want to extend the contract of Scott McTominay until 2030.
Meanwhile, the outlet have also stated that McTominay’s agent, Colin Murdock, left England and met with sports director Giovanni Manna to lay the foundations for a contract extension.
The Scottish international’s contract with the Serie A champions currently runs until 2028, but an extension until 2030 could potentially see McTominay stay at the club for another two years.
With this news revealed, it appears that Napoli are making their move to try and keep the midfielder at the club for the long-term, not just the short-term.
If they are able to complete an agreement for a contract extension, it could essentially rule out the possibility of Scott McTominay returning to Old Trafford.
