Nashville SC defender Walker Zimmerman's decorated tenure with the club is over and he will explore free agency, the team announced Monday.
The 32-year-old center back has been with the club since its 2020 expansion season, earning two MLS Defender of the Year trophies (2020, 2021), three MLS All-Star selections (2021-23) and four MLX Best XI nods (2020-23) during that span. He recorded 13 goals and seven assists in 147 MLS matches with Nashville.
He joined Nashville in a February 2020 trade from Los Angeles FC in exchange for nearly $1 million in general allocation money. He was an All-Star and a Best XI pick in 2019 with LAFC.
His team hardware includes Supporters' Shields with LAFC in 2019 and FC Dallas in 2016, and U.S. Open Cups with FC Dallas in 2016 and Nashville in 2025.
Zimmerman has recorded 25 goals and 10 assists in 287 MLS matches (254 starts) with Dallas (2013-17), LAFC (2018-19) and Nashville.
The U.S. Men's National Team veteran's departure opens up a designated player roster spot for Nashville.
