Milan officially confirmed their spot in the 2025 edition of the Supercoppa Italiana after their 5-1 win over Cagliari at San Siro last night, and it will provide a nice boost to the accounts.

As Calciomercato com recall, the Supercoppa is now effectively a mini-tournament which includes the winners and runners-up from Serie A and the Coppa Italia, therefore four teams in total.

Juventus can still technically catch Milan into second place in the league, but Max Allegri’s side have already booked their spot in the Supercoppa because they have made it through to the Coppa Italia final against Atalanta on Wednesday night.

That means Milan went into last night’s game against Cagliari knowing that a win would ensure they have a place in the competition, and they secured it with a 5-1 rout of Cagliari.

Over €16m in prize money has been set aside for the four participating Supercoppa teams and each side begin by receiving a guaranteed minimum of €1.6m for being in the semi-finals. Then, the losing finalists get an extra €5m, while the eventual winners will be granted an extra €8m.

Having a spot in the Supercoppa – which will be hosted in Saudi Arabia – is also an important part of Milan’s strategy to market more aggressively in the MENA region.
