On Friday, the New England Revolution named Marko Mitrovic as the 10th head coach in club history.
Mitrovic follows Caleb Porter, who was dismissed as Revolution head coach on Sept. 15. The Revolution finished 11th in the Eastern Conference and 23rd overall among all Major League Soccer clubs to end the 2025 season.
New England parted ways with Porter after the Revs missed the MLS Cup Playoffs for two consecutive seasons.
Mitrovic enters the Gillette Stadium gig with 15 years of coaching experience. The 47-year-old Serbian native previously managed the 2024 United States men’s under-23 team at the Paris Olympic Games. He also guided the United States under-20 team to the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup quarterfinals.
“We’re really excited to welcome Marko Mitrovic as head coach of the New England Revolution,” Sporting Director Curt Onalfo said. “During the interview process, Marko’s tactical acumen and modern coaching philosophies set him apart. It’s crystal clear that he shares our ambitions to compete for trophies in 2026 and beyond. His extensive coaching experience at both the club and international levels, including on some of the world’s biggest stages, have prepared him well for this pivotal role.”

Mitrovic previously served as an assistant coach for the Chicago Fire between 2016-19. He also was an assistant at Reading from 2020-22 when the English club was competing in the EFL Championship.
“It’s an honor to join the Revolution and become the new head coach of this storied club,” Mitrovic said. “I’m grateful to the Kraft family, Brian Bilello and Curt Onalfo for trusting me to lead the team, a responsibility I take very seriously. I will work relentlessly to deliver a team the fans will be proud to support. I’m excited to get started.”
Under Mitrovic’s watch, the United States finished second behind France during the group stage of the 2024 Olympics. The Americans were sent home by Morocco in the quarterfinals.
New England fans hope that Mitrovic can steer the club in the right direction after two playoff-less seasons and use his experience of coaching youth teams to get the best out of the Revolution’s next generation of young talents.
