New Patric injury setback for Lazio ahead of Fenerbahce friendly

Lazio suffered another setback in pre-season training, as defender Patric has been diagnosed with a new muscular injury ahead of the friendly with Fenerbahce.

Maurizio Sarri’s men are due to face Jose Mourinho’s Turkish team in a friendly test on Wednesday evening.

However, they are weakened by fitness worries , as Gustav Isaksen is ill, Samuel Gigot has lumbago, and Patric suffered a serious muscular problem.

Patric had bad luck with injuries

A statement confirmed that the centre-back was diagnosed with a mid-level lesion to the rectus femoris in his left leg.

This is quite a serious setback for him, especially coming so soon after he had surgery to correct a recurring ankle problem in March.

“It hurts, it really damn hurts,” wrote the defender on Instagram.

“I will not give up and I promise you that I will return stronger than ever. Thank you for the support. Forza Lazio.”
