Newcastle and West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard in the January transfer window.

The England international was left out of Gareth Southgate’s recent 25-man squad because he has not been playing enough for the Reds this season, but when he spent a spell at West Ham last season he was back in contention for selection and came close to making the Euro 2020 squad.

Manchester United are also said to have dropped their valuation to just £10m for Lingard’s signature, as per The Sun – less than half of what they were demanding just a couple of months ago.

However, a report from the Northern Echo suggests it will be a two-horse race between Newcastle and West Ham to land Lingard when the transfer window reopens.

Eddie Howe has been announced as Newcastle manager and I’m sure the former Bournemouth man is excited about spending some of that Saudi money on players to improve their position in the Premier League.

Lingard would be ideal for both of these teams and by playing more football, Lingard can focus on getting back into the England squad for next year’s World Cup.

Where do you think Lingard will go? Let us know in the comments section.

It doesn’t seem like Lingard has a future at United, so for his stake I hope he moves somewhere to be guaranteed regular game time at least.
