Newcastle United officially sign Bazoumana Toure

Newcastle United will be looking for a better summer transfer window this time around.

Losing Alexander Isak late in 2025’s window and signing players who failed to live up to expectations in Nick Woltemade, former Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga and Yoanne Wissa, it was the beginning of a tricky year for Eddie Howe’s men.

The Magpies finished twelfth in the Premier League, despite playing Champions League football earlier in the campaign. In the search to put wrongs right, Newcastle have made their first statement signing of the summer.

The club have confirmed the signing of Ivory Coast international Bazoumana Toure. Below a statement, Toure spoke to the club’s media, saying, “I’m very, very happy to be here. It was my dream since I was young to play in the Premier League for a big team like Newcastle.

“Newcastle is like a family, which will help me show my best on the pitch. I will give my best every single day for this shirt.

“I’m very excited to join Newcastle and I can’t wait to meet my team-mates, the supporters and everybody at the club. I’m also very excited to play at St. James’ Park for the first time.”

Toure is a player who Manchester United had scouted long-term, but the Red Devils did not make a move to sign the player this summer.

Ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window, the club reportedly renewed their interest in Toure, but did not press as hard as Newcastle in the end.

The 20-year-old shone in the 2025/26 season for German outfit TSG Hoffenheim, and the Magpies will be hoping he brings as much to the club as he did the Bundesliga.

It’s another Manchester United-scouted player that the Red Devils are missing out on, but with the midfield the priority this summer, this won’t be a move they regret not making, for now.
