These are the confirmed lineups for Newcastle vs Leeds in the Premier League. The Magpies enter without two proven attackers with Alexander Isak still refusing to play and Anthony Gordon suspended. That could come back to bite them against a very physical side that contained Everton to just two shots on target in their season opener.
Nick Pope starts in goal with a back line of Sven Botman, Fabian Schar, Dan Burn, and Kieran Trippier, and Tino Livramento. Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, and William Osula start with Jacob Murphy and Jacob Ramsey also starting in an unusual setup.
It looks like Eddie Howe is abandoning the 4-4-3 with three centre-backs picked and Livramento, Trippier capable of playing at full back. It could be a midfield three or a 3-4-3 depending on who lines out where. Anthony Elanga and Harvet Barnes being dropped does indicate a lack of wingers with either a front two or inside forwards being used.
Lucas Perri starts with a back line of Joe Rodon, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Pascal Strujik, and Jayden Bogle. Sean Longstaff plays with Anton Stach and Ilia Gruev in midfield. Daniel James, Wilfried Gnontom and Lukas Nmecha line out up front
There’s a few changes from the midweek cup tie with only a handful of names keeping their place in the lineup. This could be a change to a 4-3-3 like they used against Arsenal despite switching to a 4-2-3-1 in midweek.
