Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy offers positive spin on Melbourne friendly

Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy insists he's happy to be facing Tottenham in today's post-season friendly in Melbourne, Australia.

The match has been dubbed "crazy" by Toon legend Alan Shearer.

But Murphy said: "That kind of question is out of our control and something I have no control over. It is nice to play in front of new audiences and showcase our talent.

"Whatever way you want to look at it we take the positives from it. It is still a match and we want to win. I like visiting new stadiums and getting immersed in the culture."

He added: "We had a long look around the city yesterday. We did lots of walking trying to stay awake and fight the sleep. We had a good explore and seen what the city had to offer. We feel all right but a bit sleepy, we are robust so hopefully we will be all right."
