Real Madrid have officially confirmed that Nico Paz will remain at Como with a buy-back option for 2027, noting it was ‘made at the player’s own request.’
It was already known that the clubs had shaken hands on the deal, which will see Como purchase the remaining 50 per cent of his contract for a fee of €60m.
The buy-back option, which is only valid for the summer of 2027, will allow Real Madrid to bring him back for €80m.
“Real Madrid C.F., Como 1907, and Nico Paz have reached an agreement for the player to remain at the Italian club for the 2026-2027 season,” read the statement.
“This agreement, which has been made at the player’s own request, also provides that Real Madrid retains a unilateral buy-back option for Nico Paz’s federative rights for the 2027-2028 season.”
Nico Paz also made a statement on his official Instagram page.
“After many weeks of reflection, I have decided that the best option for my career at this time is to stay at the club for another year, the club that gave me the opportunity to grow and become the player I am today.
“I personally believe this is the best decision for both me and Real Madrid, as it is a very important year at this stage of my career and a unique opportunity to continue growing as a footballer and prepare myself in the best way for the future.”
A product of the Real Madrid youth academy, Como had picked up Nico Paz for €6m in 2024, but giving the Spaniards either 50 per cent of the future sale fee, or a buy-back option at €9m.
That was never activated, so instead the clubs managed to negotiate a new deal.
It has Como buy the remaining 50 per cent of Nico Paz for €60m, meaning the player now has an overall transfer value of €120m.
Unless something unexpected happens, then the Argentina international should be returned to Real Madrid at a cost of €80m next summer, having flourished in three years under Cesc Fabregas at Como.
