Nicolas Jackson’s first outings for Bayern Munich spark reactions from Chelsea supporters

Nicolas Jackson made a late exit from Chelsea, joining Bayern Munich just before the deadline.

Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both joined this summer, pushing Jackson further down the pecking order and prompting his move to Germany.

There was talk of bringing him back when Delap suffered a thigh injury early in the season, but Jackson’s switch to Bayern went ahead as planned.

He has been with Bayern for nearly two months now, and Chelsea supporters have been keeping tabs on him. Many seem to be drawing similar conclusions about how he is settling in.

Nicolas Jackson struggles to settle in at Bayern

By the time Nicolas Jackson left Stamford Bridge, his place in the team had already started to fade under Enzo Maresca. With a World Cup on the horizon, it made sense for him to look for a fresh start rather than sit on the sidelines.

But since moving to Munich, he has yet to find his feet, still searching for his first Bundesliga goal.

That slow start was highlighted even more after Der Klassiker, where fans of his old club took notice.

“Didn’t expect him to be really that bad,” one fan posted on social media.

Another said: “How can you not score at Bayern where everyone eats.”

Even though Jackson is still under contract with Chelsea – he is only there on loan – fans have not held back from criticising him.

“I knew he wouldn’t succeed there,” one wrote, while another asked about his most recent game: “Nah, someone please mention one positive thing this guy did in the game.”

But not everyone is ready to make up their mind so soon. Some have pointed out that three starts is not much of a sample size and that patience might be needed.

“What kind of a weird diss is this, Jackson has only started in 3 games for Bayern so far you’re acting as if we’re 40 games into the season,” posted one fan.

A similar thought came from another supporter: “He is just a backup striker what do you expect?”

Supporters quick to forget Nicolas Jackson’s role at Stamford Bridge

Jackson, while still on the books at Chelsea, has not played enough minutes in Germany for judgement to be passed. The striker has played just 185 minutes across five games without a Bundesliga goal.

The Senegalese put away 24 Premier League goals over two seasons and assisted ten more in that time. He and Palmer worked well together up front.

While fans grew tired of his inconsistency in front of goal, the level of criticism he has received from Chelsea supporters – rather than Bayern fans – seems unnecessary.

Bayern are top of the table with seven wins from seven matches. In his limited time on the pitch, Jackson has scored and assisted a goal each in the Champions League.

The striker could well be back at Stamford Bridge next summer, as Bayern are not obligated to buy him unless he meets a specific appearance threshold.

Therefore, Chelsea fans should reconsider their early comments to avoid hindering a potential transfer.
